Clogged Bathroom Drains? Here’s the Solution!
It’s every homeowner’s nightmare for a drain to be clogged. Clogged drains are not only unsightly but they can cause some major drainage problems in the long run. The best way to stop the drains in your house from getting clogged is to prevent it from ever happening. That includes cleaning up and removing anything that is likely to block the gutters like hair and soap.
But if you’re already knee deep in trouble and have clogged drains, it’s not the end of the world. You can still fix your gutters and get them back in shape.
Bathroom clogs are particularly problematic because no one likes wet floors and ponding water in a room that is supposed to make you clean. If you have a shower drain or a sink drain clogged, try removing the stopper and cleaning it through and through. If the obstruction is on the stopper level, that should fix the problem.
For drains that are blocked more deeply, plunging is a good option to consider. The plunger is a pretty versatile tool. It can be used to open clogged drains as well as clogged toilets.
If plunging fails, try pouring a cup of vinegar to dissolve whatever is blocking the gutters. Then add half a cup of baking soda and this will create a drain volcano that will effectively remove whatever is blocking your drain.
Shower gutters are clogged primarily by long hair so you should take measures to prevent your hair from getting trapped in the shower drain. Purchase a hair trap to remove the hair that gets trapped.
Toilet clogs are the worst kind of clogs you don’t ever want to come across. Using a plunger is the first option you need to consider. But if that doesn’t work, add hot, boiling water with your dishwashing liquid in the bowl and let it sit for a few hours. Flush the toilet after a few hours have passed and it should unclog it. If that fails as well, you might need to call your plumber.
